LATE NIGHTS ABOVE THE CITY
If one is a night owl, here is some good news: The Empire State Building is permanently extending its observation platform hours after positive responses from an eight-month trial run.
The Empire State Building announced Wednesday that it will permanently extend the hours of its observatories, allowing late-night visitors to enjoy the view of the city from the building until 2 a.m., seven nights a week.
Tickets can be purchased until 1:15 a.m. with the last elevator up leaving at 1:35 a.m.
The lighting schedule for the ESB can be found here. Tonight, the lights will shine blue, blue, and white to commemorate 25 years of work by ORBIS, a nonprofit humanitarian organization dedicated to battling blindness around the world. Beginning at 8:20 pm, the ESB will shut off its lights for 28 minutes to remember the 28 million people around the world who are unnecessarily blind.
